Should The Pro-Life Family Leave For Egypt ? Pre-Lent 2009 By Father Frederick Bentley OHI Director |
|
There is great doubt that anything good for Pro-Life is going to come out of the new administration. By now everyone knows about the FOCA (Freedom of Choice Act, click here to read text directly from Pro-choice site) Bill that was revealed. It is also on tape President Obama making a commitment to the abortion people he is going to be all the way for women’s reproductive rights. I think the greater problem is with the almost veto proof Congress. I would think Barney Frank and others are going to generate some of the most unfriendly family legislation yet. Time will tell, however, should it get to the President he may sign whatever. Contrary to some people’s thoughts, I think regardless President Obama is going to be another Bill Clinton President, ruled by the polls. The one thing that may save the babies is the economic crisis, the new administration is going to be so involved in the first term, some of the most liberal anti-family bills may have to wait. Like the Bush administration, Obama is going to be in over his head in the economy and foreign crisis, Afghanistan, Latin America and yes Mexico. With that all said we will all know almost immediately if the new Congress will put aside everything to push the far left agenda against the family. So the time has come for us not to give up our efforts in Washington, but we have to look at it as a time of opportunity. One such example is Senator Robert Casey Democrat from Pennsylvania, like his father who was locked out of the Democratic convention for being pro-life he is following his footsteps. Senator Casey serves on the Foreign Relations Committee and Committee on Aging, both areas of importance for Pro-Life. Robert Casey has also proposed the Casey Pregnant Women Support Act which you may check out here. There is some hope out there. We have to work where we can find common ground and be diligent in prayer and witness in our churches. See reference elsewhere in Deliverance on Democrats for Life

The way I look at it unless the Congress pushes most of the legislation immediately some will be put on the back burner. Most of the immediate harm will come from directives from the President or his chief of staff that can be just signed. The example is foreign aid used for abortion as population control. Other examples will be tax dollars for Department of Defense Abortions and more funding for Plan Parenthood.. |

Has abundance burdened us? Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things he possesseth" (Luke 12:15). The United States has been blessed with possessions of which throngs of people in the world could never dream. Our Lord talks of a spiritual life more abundant than any material blessing. The present economic crisis overshadows every concern, and spiritual solutions seem distant. After the 1929 crash, a work ethic driven by a need to serve God with our nation's gifts saved the day. .first thing he will do if he wins is sign a "Freedom of Choice Act." . . . "Life consisteth not in the abundance of the things" - this would make official the thought that "some humans are possessions." Is this what Brother Abraham and Martin Luther King died for? Bishop Gene Robinson at Lincoln’s Memorial Fr Frederick Bentley from Washington Times To associate his cause with Lincoln’s; Bishop Gene Robinson, of New Hampshire spoke at the Lincoln Memorial. On his web site, he is applauded for his secular ministry and education, but nowhere does it list him a “defender of the faith”, it does mention his civil union with another man. A Priest’s apologetics must be developed and accepted in the context of orthodox Christianity. I would congratulate him for anything done that comforts mankind, although discomfort is not always bad. For his own inner circle’s comfort, he successfully ripped apart a Church. Like Father John Newton (a former slave trader), the Bishop will have to repent and then he may say “Amazing Grace How Sweet the Sound. (see our web site for “Amazing Experience”) Several Faiths were present when the President was sworn in on his Bible. The Judeo-Christian tradition of two millennia does not support Robinson’s supposition. It is appropriate regardless of one’s human condition to be guaranteed certain dignity, especially those that are different or unwanted. Yet the Church, Scripture and Tradition are not about rights but responsibilities and then the gift of redemption. Traditional Christianity can make us a peculiar people but only because Christ has made us different in our sin, we are redeemed through repentance. |

One such example is two Priests, The Rt. Rev Charles Francis Hall & F.J. Hall D.D., both solid orthodox Christians. The former became the Sixth Episcopal Bishop also of New Hampshire; he was faithful in work and deed. The second Father Hall wrote Hall’s Dogmatic Theology (in ten volumes, buy here) and needs no introduction to Catholic Anglican Clergy. Both were faithful in readiness and decency. The Apostolic Succession (transmission of grace since the Apostles) of Bishop Hall (Robinson’s predecessor) was not in defiance of Orthodox Christianity. Bishop Robinson has what some call tactile |

succession because of his (and consecrators) denial of Orthodox Christianity; it’s validity is in the New Episcopal Church. His orders are valid but illicit to Catholic Anglicanism., the church he now represents started when he was consecrated and reaffirmed by a Presiding Bishop who also is lacking. Unrepentant homosexual behavior and abortion on demand, which he teaches, demeans the sacrament of marriage and creates scandal. God gave marriage as a gift for one man and one woman, with one of its purposes to bring another gift, children. Abortion is a form of slavery because the child becomes the mother’s property under our civil law. What irony that this should occur in front of this edifice, supporting the thought that someone can own and end another life. The Bishop has spoken for the different, while that group has been indifferent to all others. He has the office sought with sparsely populated pews, but what Catholic Anglicans have left is their faith. Therefore Bishop, thank you the opportunity to draw contrasts in ministry by your appearance. I too love America and its opportunity to be different in one’s secular stance however there is a higher calling between God and man. FJB+ |

Democrats For Life—are they? Visited the Democrats for Life Web Site recently and was pleasantly surprised and disappointed at same time. I tried to read it solely from a Pro-Life perspective, some articles and links disturbed me, while others happy and surprised to see. It is important that we do have a presence even if we disagree on some issues. You will see some examples of issues I’m sure most Catholic Anglicans would disagree on : http://www.democratsforlife.org The Republicans, is the life movement taken for granted? |

We Pray For Our New President Ora pro nobis - Pray for us |

“In the life of every individual and nation there are three moments: a time of visitation or privilege in the form of a blessing from God; a time of rejection in which the Divine is forgotten; and a time of doom or disaster. Judgment (or disaster) is the consequence of human decisions and powers that the world is guided by God’s presence. His tears over the city showed Him as the Lord of History, giving men grace, and yet never destroying their freedom to reject it. But in disobeying His will, men destroy themselves; in stabbing Him, it is their own hearts they slay; in denying Him, it is their city and their nation that they bring to ruin.” Comments about Our Lord’s entrance into Jerusalem- The Life of Christ by + Bp. Fulton J, Sheen (purchase) The President has been given I think a time of visitation or privilege from God (the first step), what happens next is up to him. Even more so is a Congress that has to be adult enough to put their self interests aside for the sake of the country. |
